The San Francisco Travel Association is launching a 49 Hours of SF: Holidays promotion.

Starting November 1, 2011, the special holiday package offers discount rates on hotels when booked at www.49HoursofSF.com.

The idea behind the 49 Hours of SF: Holidays campaign is to encourage travelers to plan a 48-hour weekend holiday plus an extra hour.

With the 49 Hours theme, the campaign recalls the 49ers who came to San Francisco in 1849 for gold and the 49 Mile Scenic Drive traveling through the city’s 49 square miles.

Among the 49 Hours of SF: Holiday specials is a Westfield San Francisco Centre VIP Passport for holiday shopping at Westfield San Francisco Centre.

Residents who sign up for PIER 39’s “Locals Only” program will be eligible for 50% off at participating PIER 39 merchants.

The website also features details on more San Francisco retailers and off-the beaten path events.

Amtrak is running a special promotion of Kids Ride FREE on the San Joaquin and Capitol Corridor routes for up to two children under age 15 per adult through February 29, 2011.

Visitors can download a digital edition of the San Francisco Visitors Planning Guide online here.
