Vancouver, Canada is one of the world’s most livable cities.
The city ranked number 3 in The Economist’s World’s Most Liveable Cities 2011 (Top 10).
One of the latest accolades for the Canadian city is the Mercer’s 2011 Quality of Living Survey which ranked Vancouver as the world’s fifth-best city and the best place to live in North America.
In these ratings of 221 cities on 39 dimensions, the survey’s criteria include culture, crime, education and public services. Vancouver was lauded for its “excellent health care, natural environment and stable political and social climate.”
Vancouver has also ranked the second most sustainable city in North America by the Economist Intelligence Unit (EIU).
The U.S. travel trade publication Travel Weekly has also named Vancouver the best destination in Canada. These Readers Choice Awards are chosen by U.S. travel agents. who vote on national and international travel suppliers including airlines, tour operators, cruises, theme parks and destinations.
