Mint Hotel Tower of London has launched new City of London tours for its guests.
On the tours, local guide Geoff Boyd talks about buildings, locations and historical figures which reflect life in the City over the past 2,000 years.
“These walking tours introduce guests to the City – the heart of London, developed originally by the Romans,” says Boyd.
“I reveal the history of this contemporary city and introduce guests to some of the characters who were the lifeblood here.”
Mint Hotel Tower of London, which opened in December 2010, is located in the City of London and 6.3 miles from City Airport.
Mint Hotel is a city-centre hotel brand with seven UK hotels – in London (Westminster and Tower of London), Birmingham, Manchester, Leeds, Bristol, Glasgow – and one international property, Mint Hotel Amsterdam.
Mint Hotel Tower is becoming known for its cocktail lounge and restaurant Skylounge (above) whose outdoor terrace has panoramic views of the River Thames and London’s cityscape.
Another hotel design feature is the Living Wall (above), one of the tallest living walls on a live building in Europe, reaching 11 storeys in height.
Highlights of the walking tour include:
- All Hallows by the Tower;
- The River Thames;
- Leadenhall Market;
- London’s first coffee house;
- Royal Exchange;
- The Bank of England and
- New buildings under construction.
These City of London walks last 90 minutes or so but shorter tours can be arranged. Walks aren’t considered suitable for children under the age of 12.
